2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Launched


A month after showcasing the MY 2018 Land Cruiser Prado at the Auto Expo, Toyota has silently launched it in India at a price of Rs 92.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). For roughly Rs 3.74 lakh more than the outgoing model, the Prado now gets cosmetic updates inside and out, and a whole lot of features and tech.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado now looks more handsome than before, losing the droopy headlights for simple but smart looking ones that mimic those on the larger LC200. The grille is also petite, as compared to the older car, and has been raised to increase the Prado’s water wading capability by up to 0.7 metres, claims Toyota. The bonnet slants gently to improve visibility from the inside, while the bumpers are fitted with new LED fog lamps.
There are no changes to the sides, even the 18-inch alloy wheels have been carried over. At the back, the taillamps have the same design as the older model but get new LED elements, while the rear bumper design has also been revised.

Inside, the dashboard has been given a big revision - an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system being the highlight. The instrument cluster also gets a bigger digital driver information display and new dials, while the steering wheel can now be adjusted electronically. Ventilated seats with heating and cooling, cooled cup holders, 3-zone climate control and puddle lamps are the new features added to the Prado facelift.

It continues to be powered by the same 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine developing 173PS of maximum power and 410Nm of peak torque paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission and a shift-on-the-fly 4WD system. The new Prado also gets Toyota’s Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) along with adaptive dampers with three modes - Comfort, Normal and Sport - and air suspension for the rear wheels.

The 7-seater SUV is also packed with safety features, including active headrests on the front seats to reduce whiplash injuries, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist, seven airbags, stability control, tyre pressure monitor and a 360-degree parking camera system. The Land Cruiser Prado competes against the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Land Rover Discovery.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe and cabriolet revealed ahead of New York

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the facelifted C-Class coupé and cabriolet ahead of their planned public debut at next week’s New York motor show. The appearance of the reworked two-door C-Class models follows the unveiling of the facelifted four-door C-Class saloon and estate at the recent Geneva motor show. Along with some predictably subtle exterior styling tweaks and upgraded interior appointments, they have a series of midlife mechanical changes, including a more powerful engine in the four-wheel-drive C43 4Matic. That model retains the same turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine used by the predecessor saloon, estate, coupé and cabriolet models, but gains an additional 23bhp (to 386bhp) while running the same 383lb ft of torque as before.
